Our Faith
As United Methodists, we have an obligation to bear a faithful
Christian witness to Jesus Christ, the living reality at the center
of the Church’s life and witness. To fulfill this obligation, we reflect
critically on our biblical and theological inheritance, striving to express
faithfully the witness we make in our own time.
Our Beliefs
John Wesley and the early Methodists were particularly concerned about inviting
people to experience God’s grace and to grow in their knowledge and love of God
through disciplined Christian living. They placed primary emphasis on Christian
living, on putting faith and love into action. This emphasis on what Wesley referred
to as "practical divinity" has continued to be a hallmark of United Methodism today.
We invite you to learn more about our rich theological heritage.
Our Church
We are the earliest Methodist congregation in Davao City to be organized, hence our church's name:
"The First United Methodist Church". From one generation to another, we continue our mission to
make disciples of Jesus Christ by serving the people of our community and our world, and to
help these disciples grow to spiritual maturity through shared worship, study, fellowship and
service for the glory of God.
We welcome you to the First United Methodist Church, your home church
in Davao City. You are invited to come and join our worship service,
wherein Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior.
Then Jesus said, "Come to Me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and
I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart,
and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light."
